I specialize in natural light, custom portraiture. My approach is laid back and relaxed as well as understanding of those unpredictable moments that occur with little ones. I typically allow 1.5-2 hours per session, however I also ensure that the sessions are never rushed. I allow plenty of time for breaks (clothing changes, snacks, cuddle time.) My goal in each session is capture the unique personality of each child, whether it is accomplished through observing them at play, resting peacefully, or interacting with their parent or sibling. You’ll find me chasing after your toddler to get the perfect shot, or sitting quietly with your newborn to capture all the tiny details.
I photograph clients in their own homes or favorite spots chosen by clients. I find that capturing moments within the home are often the “favorite” shots as children tend to have a sense of ease and comfort while in their own home. On the other hand, photographing little ones in a familiar park or another type of setting outside of the home provides opportunities of exploration and play. It’s your session, so you get to choose!
Most outdoor shoots are booked for early morning or late afternoon in order to take advantage of the softest and most pleasing light. For indoor shoots, natural ambient light is preferred. This is achieved by photographing near windows.
While the sessions are not particularly structured, I like to have a phone conversation with clients beforehand to prepare a bit for the session. At this time, we will discuss the location of choice, clothing options, lighting available (if in your home) as well as any questions or concerns you may have.
Photographs will be made available to clients 2 weeks after the session takes place in an online, password protected gallery.
